Basic Working Principle
Vacuum tissue processing devices optimize the infiltration of reagents into the tissue matrix through vacuum and pressurized environment cycles generated within a closed processing chamber. Unlike conventional circulation systems, both gas and liquid pathways in these devices are controlled independently. This independent control structure makes a critical contribution to repeatability and precision in reagent management.
Modern vacuum processors deliver high-efficiency workflow with simultaneous capacity for up to 300 cassettes. The dual-basket loading system enables specimen groups requiring different protocols to be processed within the same cycle, increasing workflow flexibility, especially in high-volume routine laboratories. The system configuration, consisting of 13 reagent containers and 4 paraffin baths, is designed to fully meet the requirements of a complete processing cycle.

Reagent Management and Safety
To minimize the risk of cross-contamination, which is a critical issue in reagent management, each reagent container is designed with independent gas and liquid pathways. This structure ensures that reagents are used in the correct order and in the correct quantities. In addition, a carbon filtration system and active ventilation mechanism prevent volatile organic compounds from spreading into the laboratory environment.
In terms of system safety, multilayer alarm mechanisms provide immediate warnings in situations that may threaten specimen safety, while the power-failure protection function ensures uninterrupted process continuity. The automatic resume feature makes it possible for the process to continue from the point at which it was interrupted in the event of unexpected power loss.
Clinical Importance and Laboratory Efficiency
The contribution of vacuum tissue processing systems to clinical practice can be evaluated under several main headings. First, response times are significantly reduced in cases requiring urgent histopathological assessment because infiltration time is shortened. Second, inter- and intra-laboratory variation in slide quality is minimized through standard protocols and sensor-based process monitoring. Third, shorter maintenance times achieved through modular design and easy cleaning procedures increase device availability.
